A book establishes you as THE go-to expert

Once you’ve published a book (an internet marketing guide for your niche) and you’re the known author in your space, your industry will look at you differently. Why? Because you’re looked at as an expert if you’re the person creating the content, sharing at the front of the stage, or you’re a published author.

If you don’t have a book in your niche, this is an asset you can use in numerous ways. If you haven’t written a book, come up with a great topic, a great cover, and some great content, and get it written and published as soon as possible. Why?

A book is THE ultimate lead magnet

Being able to say you’re a published author positions you as an expert. Secondly, a book is a lead magnet. You can give out an eBook, checklist, guide, etc. for free, but a physical book has a much higher perceived value—and a longer shelf life. People keep them.

Here are some of my favorite ways to use a book:

  • Mail a copy of your book to your “Dream 100” list—the top prospects you’d love to do business with—and send it with a cover letter to get your foot in the door. It’s an amazing way to get appointments.
  • Advertise the book for free on social media, Google, etc. (and ship it to your prospects for free if they opt in). This will help you build your email list and prospect list.
  • Join the national association within your industry, get a booth at their events, and give away the book to prospects instead of a brochure. They’ll remember you and gladly give you their contact information in exchange.
  • Use your book to get speaking opportunities at industry events and conferences. Industry associations want to share valuable content within their industry but they need to use people who know what they’re talking about. As an author with authority in the industry, you can fill that gap. Offer to put on a workshop and multiply your authority.

The book is an asset and tool that is massively impactful. It will position you as the expert and get clients to come to you pre-positioned to buy—and people will be willing to pay a premium to work with the best of the best. It is the #1 marketing asset to leverage in your agency to grow and scale.
