Before finding success in these ventures, Nelson spent years learning the ropes and paying his dues.

His first foray into Internet Marketing was a web design and hosting company that he started in 2000. Landing clients and doing the work wasn’t the challenge, but Nelson quickly discovered that there was more to business success that he had to learn. So, he decided to work for someone else, continuing his business education on the job.

After a few years at Reach Local, one of the most widely recognized and established Internet Marketing firms catering to local markets, Josh was ready to put his new-found knowledge and experience to the test and become an entrepreneur once again.

The Riches are in the Niches

Implementing what he learned at Reach Local, Josh Nelson started a full-service marketing agency aimed at serving local businesses, such as dentist, plumbers, roofers, chiropractors, and virtually anyone that fit the description of “local.”

Again, Nelson was adept at lead generation, but he ran into a major obstacle when the time came to close the sale. Specifically, how do you demonstrate your expertise to a dental client, for example, when you don’t have any successful case studies for that niche?

The obvious solution was to niche down, but where to start? Thankfully, before long, Josh’s marketing expertise and client management skills allowed him to land a handful of plumbing clients. He parlayed one good case study into a collection of success stories, and before he knew it, he was the marketing expert for plumbing and HVAC companies.

Plumbing & HVAC SEO was born.

Once Nelson singularly focused his efforts on one niche, he was able to gain momentum and grow at scale.

To put it into perspective, Josh grew his two-person agency by more than 333% over a three-year period. During this time, he went from zero to $4.5 million per year.

Now, with 35+ employees, Plumbing & HVAC SEO has a proven system that has helped hundreds of clients get to the top of the search engines. And that’s not all. The company has also made Inc. Magazine’s list of the 5,000 fastest-growing companies in the United States for the last four years in a row.
