Asset #1: Give a keynote presentation

Get a keynote presentation ready so that when you get invited to speak at the association in your niche, you’ll be confident and ready to present. A keynote is just a 45–60 minute presentation that shares the challenges your clients face and what they should do to maximize outcomes (with examples). You can use this immediately as a webinar. Secondly, this will give you an understanding of the value you can bring.

Asset #2: A marketing guide for your niche

A marketing guide can be a PDF or eBook that you can use as a lead magnet. It can be “The Ultimate Guide to Online Marketing for [insert your niche here].” This is similar to your keynote presentation, simply in a written format. Put together whatever that document is so you can easily email it or offer it as a lead magnet.

Asset #3: A great website with great content

Many people set up a landing page for their business but don’t create useful and valuable content. If you want to position yourself as the go-to expert, your website NEEDS value-added content. Fill a niche-focused website with commonly asked questions and answers.

Our website is loaded with marketing-related content that HVAC contractors and plumbers need. The best part is that this content can rank in organic search, is shareable, and becomes a valuable place people will revisit.

Asset #4: Case studies and testimonials

The reality is that anyone can call themselves an expert. What sets you apart from your competition is proven results. And as you get clients and generate results, document the outcomes!

Show your client where they started and where they are today based on what you did for them. It’s one of THE most powerful things you can do. It can be in the form of a video testimonial, interview, written document, etc. You need to focus on your client’s experiences to make positive testimonials a reality.

Asset #5: Video-based trainings and webinars

Take your keynote presentation, sit down in front of your keyboard, and start recording with Loom or Screenflow. Record yourself explaining your training. Then roll out webinars every single month.

Email them to your industry association, post them on social media, post them on YouTube and iTunes, and write blog posts. When done consistently, this gives you an amazing library of great content.

Asset #6: Publish a book on internet marketing in your niche

An author is always looked at as an authority. That’s why you should publish a book. My book is called “How to Triple Your Sales by Getting Your Internet Marketing Right.” You can take your keynote speech and transcribe it, create a nice cover, and self-publish it on Amazon.

You can give your book out at events and conferences. You can sell it on Amazon. You can run Facebook ads to it. You can mail this book to top prospects. It will serve you well.

Asset #7: Start a podcast in your niche

A podcast that adds value in your niche positions you as an expert. Take your recorded webinar, load it up as audio on iTunes and other platforms, and you have a podcast. You can also interview customers and interview them about their business. That simple process of one podcast a month is a great way to show your expertise.

Asset #8: Get retargeting in place

Retargeting is simply dropping a pixel on someone who gets into your world so they see you on social media and get your banner ads. When they see you across the web, the recency of impression share builds authority. They will look at you as someone who puts out valuable content and knows what they’re doing.

Asset #9: Print a newsletter

This is the only strategy that isn’t digital (other than the book). If you share a quarterly newsletter with clients and prospects, it’s another great way to be professional and improve your authority.

If you do these nine things, you will become the go-to expert in your niche and people will come to you pre-positioned to buy.

Which of these have you done? What will you focus on next? Let me know!
