He Doubled to $100K MRR, Then Took Two Weeks Off on Do Not Disturb

Dallin Cottle sells fractional chief marketing officer work and other fractional executive functions through Roar CXO. In a year he took the agency from roughly $50,000 a month to over $100,000 in monthly recurring revenue. The part he is proudest of is that when his fifth child was born, he went dark on his phone for two weeks and the business ran without him.

My name is Dallin Cottle. My agency is Roar CXO, and we specialize in fractional chief marketing officer work and other executive fractional functions inside our agency. Prior to joining Seven Figure Agency, we were right around like 50K a month. We've doubled in the last year, broke over 100,000 in, MRR, everything thanks to Seven Figure Agency.

Our agency has changed a lot since joining Seven Figure Agency, primarily just having structure, having playbooks. Instead of having to spend months and months or even years figuring out things and learning the hard way, we can just log into a portal or talk to a coach or talk to another, member and get the answer right away and implement it. My life has changed personally from joining Seven Figure Agency. Number one, by implementing what they teach, I've been able to buy back so much of my time and create freedom for myself.

My wife and I just had another baby. We've got five kids now, and I was able to be on do not disturb for the last two weeks. We had a baby three weeks ago, and I was on do not disturb on my phone for two whole weeks and everything ran smooth and was able to go back to work last week and then be here at an event. Um, and it's been amazing.

Great freedom. The benefit for me coming to the intensives is, number one, I get to go and work on my business. I don't really feel like I'm being awa- I'm away from the business. It's just I w- I'm able to actually come and think and clear my head and connect with other people and come with problems or issues to solve.

Extremely beneficial. My favorite part about the events are, I mean, I love all the information throughout the day. It's all great, but really it's mostly the connections, the after hours. It's going to dinner, it's hanging out, grabbing a drink, and just being with other people that are running a similar business with goals and aspirations and just getting motivated by that and being surrounded by people that are leveling up.

Yeah, I think the most valuable component is thinking different. It's having people that you're surrounded with to think different. What are they working on? What are they trying?

So that we can implement those things as well. Yeah, it was really cool this last event to receive my Seven Figure Agency plaque and award. It feels good to step back and to recognize your progress and see how far you've come and to have the opportunity to not only think about it, but to share with other people some of the obstacles and things you faced to get here, and to be able to share that, and to be celebrated, and they just look dope, so you have to have one. I don't think that I've necessarily been in that boat of, like, hitting a ceiling because I think that I've been able to, by leveraging this group, I've been able to just consistently level up after every single intensive.

Like, set the goals, follow the playbooks. I have not hit plateaus or ran into that because I think I've strategically had the conversations to foresee what's gonna happen, which is extremely valuable. Yeah, I think the biggest thing that Seven Figure Agency has given me that I would not have been able to figure out on my own is, like, being able to get extremely focused. We all get really excited with the shiny object or trying this new service or trying this new thing, and I think Seven Figure Agency has created structure and focus with a clear, like, roadmap to get to where I want to go.

Now that I'm at seven figures, I definitely feel like I'm working more on the business. My day-to-day isn't, oh, let's look at this new meta strategy or whatever. My day-to-day is like, how do I lead a team and how do I level them up so they're thinking about those minor details? Yeah, I get to focus on bigger things and focus on what matters most, and that's being with my family and creating freedom for, for our lives.

Yeah, if you're watching this and you're considering joining or you're on the fence about joining, man, I'd just say absolutely do it. If you've been hitting roadblocks or trying to figure it out or you feel like you're on an island sometimes, you're on your own, you're not. There's plenty of agencies. There's so many people in this community that will step in and help you.

We're all contributing and wanting to give to everybody around us and so, yeah, definitely join. We'll see you at the next event.

Where He Started

Before joining Seven Figure Agency, Roar CXO was running at right around $50,000 a month. The offer already worked: Dallin and his team place fractional chief marketing officers and other fractional executive functions inside client companies. What was missing was structure. Every decision was a fresh decision, and every problem was one he had to solve from scratch.

His words for what changed are simple: playbooks and access. Instead of spending months, or in his words even years, figuring something out and learning it the hard way, he logs into the portal, talks to a coach, or asks another member who has already done it, and implements the answer that week.

Focus Was the Real Unlock

Ask Dallin what he could not have figured out alone and he does not say a tactic. He says focus. Agency owners get excited by the shiny object, the new service, the new thing to try, and that excitement is what keeps most of them at the same revenue for years. What the program gave him was a roadmap with a clear next step, so the exciting distractions had something to lose against.

That focus shows up in how he spends his days now. He is not digging into the newest Meta strategy. He is leading a team and raising their level so they handle the details he used to hold.

Two Weeks on Do Not Disturb

Three weeks before this interview, Dallin and his wife had their fifth child. He put his phone on do not disturb for two full weeks. Nothing broke. He came back to work the following week and then flew to a Seven Figure Agency intensive. That is the honest measure of whether the systems are real, and it is the reason he frames the growth as freedom rather than revenue.

He is also candid that he has not hit the plateau most owners describe, and he does not credit willpower for it. He credits going to every intensive, setting goals against the playbooks, and having the conversations that let him see the next constraint before he ran into it.

What He Gets Out of the Room

Dallin comes to the in-person intensives to work on the business rather than escape it. His favorite part is not the sessions, it is the after hours: dinner, a drink, and time with other owners running a similar business at a similar altitude. The value, as he puts it, is being forced to think differently by seeing what other people are working on and testing, then taking those things home and implementing them.

At the most recent event he received his Seven Figure Agency plaque. He liked the recognition, and he liked that receiving it made him stop and look at how far Roar CXO had come, and share the obstacles it took to get there with the people behind him.

What made it work

  1. Sell a recurring executive service, not project work, so growth compounds month over month.
  2. Use the playbooks instead of inventing process. The answer usually already exists in the portal or in another member.
  3. Say no to the shiny object. The roadmap only works if you stay on it between events.
  4. Build the team so the owner’s day is leadership, not campaign management.
  5. Attend every intensive and set the next set of goals there, before you hit the ceiling.
