3 key things to solve for
There are three things you need to keep in mind when trying to leverage Facebook ads:
- Targeting: You can have the best funnel but if you don’t have the right prospect(s) targeted, it’ll be useless.
- Funnel: You need a funnel where people can enter the sales process.
- Ad/creative: You need to run the right ads to get your target market’s attention.
Now let’s unpack each of these areas of focus!
Target your ideal prospects
I’m a strong believer in being niche-focused. For example, our agency is Plumbing and HVAC SEO. We also work with over 87 agencies who have followed our process and built seven-figure agencies. You have to target your ideal prospects in your niche.
You need names, addresses, and phone numbers of ideal prospects so you can start cold outreach. It also allows you to look them up on social media. You can use that data and load it as a custom audience for targeting. Then you advertise to that audience.
If you’re running webinars, publishing podcasts, and active in industry organizations, people will come to your website and funnel. So you need to pair this with retargeting (and grow your retargeting audience).
You need a great funnel
We’ve found that if you are sharing valuable content with your target audience and building credibility, you can run an ad with testimonials straight to an application where people can schedule an appointment. You can leverage appointment automation to get them excited and prepositioned to buy. If you dial in your funnel, more people will show up and close.
Facebook ads that capture attention
You definitely want to run lead generation ads (using Facebook ads forms) but you also shouldn’t be afraid to run reach campaigns. If you have a custom audience of 1,000–2,000 audience and Facebook only matches half, that’s not enough data for lead gen ads. But if you use a reach campaign, those 500 people will see your ads over and over. This develops omnipresent positioning for your agency.
Remember, you can’t set it and forget it with Facebook ads. You need to figure out which creative is getting the best click-through rate and optimize your ad spend. This model works well to get a consistent flow of ideal prospects showing up on your calendar and excited to do business with you.
